This piece takes place in the middle of our Nuit Blanche concert,evoking the anguish of passing time, like a spinning wheel, ticking off the seconds one by one, slowly but surely. Our relationship with time, which can seem distorted once night has fallen, over insomnia.

January 6th, 2022 marks the 150th birth anniversary of Alexander Scriabin, Russian composer and pianist. In order to pay tribute and celebrate his great work, we recorded the Fantasy for Two Pianos in A minor (op. posth.).

The Serpent’s Kiss
An excerpt from the two-piano suite “Garden of Eden” – drawing inspiration from the biblical characters Adam and Eve – “The Serpent’s Kiss” sets the scene for the snake’s arrival. A ragtime full of charm, character… and surprises!

Chroniques d’une coupe à blanc
Chroniques d’une coupe à blanc (Clear-Cutting Chronicles) was originally commissioned by Duo Fortin-Poirier for their concert Mémoires. The composer, Vanessa Marcoux, drew inspiration from Québec’s majestic trees: from fragile saplings to strong, sky-high trees, until the trees’ ill-fated encounter with man-made machines and their cold and systematic felling.

As wild as they are virtuosic, the Variations on a Theme of Paganini were written by Witold Lutoslawki, famous Polish composer and conductor.

Entre la veille et le sommeil
Evoking the ever oscillating and gentle state of semi-conscience, this composition written by Maggie Ayotte, a young female composer from Québec, was commissioned by Duo Fortin-Poirier. Deriving from the composer’s rich imagination who likes thinking outside the box, her work draws inspiration from the points of connection between body and musicality.
